Slime Rancher 2 Release Date Announced

Gather your plorts up, because the Slime Rancher 2 release date has been announced, and will be headed into early access via Steam on September 22, 2022. Players can get ready to head on over to Rainbow Island by adding the game to their wishlist today!

For those who may not know, Slime Rancher was the first game to be released by Monomi Park back in August of 2017, receiving plenty of updates and new content along the way. The developers have announced the official release date of the next game in the series, Slime Rancher 2, via Steam, stating,

"The Early Access release of Slime Rancher 2 is the beginning of an incredible journey for us that we're delighted to share with you."

Slime Rancher Series Director, Nick Popovich, even created an FAQ page in regards to the early access content so fans can see what they have to look forward to next month. The original Slime Rancher game has over 15 million players to date, which leads the Series Director to believe there are plenty of players anticipating the release of the second game in the franchise. The game will feature several different slimes to capture and breed, along with a vast and expansive open world to explore. The early access preview will also reveal some of the hidden secrets Rainbow Island holds onto as it dives deep within the game’s storyline.

Popovich goes on to say that the game is already in a very polished state, and the enhancements made to the graphics are substantial compared to the previous game. This means that he believes this is a great starting point for the players to leap into and enjoy prior to the full launch. Though, Popovich makes sure to note that this is an early access game, meaning the game is not finished and won’t be where it fully needs to be until its official launch. Players need to keep this in mind with early access games, as things can change rapidly and without warning in order to polish the end product.

Though the game will only be launched in an early access state in September of 2022, there will be plenty of content to explore as the game takes on its finishing touches. Those who do wish to take part in the early access preview will also be able to carry their save files over after the release of the full version of the game.
