Gearbox Software announced the latest accessibility features in Borderlands 3, and one of them is an Apex Legends style ping system that allows players to point out enemies, loot and items.

Gearbox explained that the ping system will add much needed coordination in multiplayer modes, without the need for voice chat. Once an item is pinged, a contextually relevant VO will play, along with a marker in the game world and a blip on the mini-map.

Borderlands 3 will also feature a “full suite of accessibility options,” which will allow players to play any way they want. All platforms will have the option to remap the controls, which will also allow the use of the Xbox Adaptive Controller.

Some of the accessibility options include toggling head-bob, auto mantling and aim assist. Borderlands 3 will also feature closed detailed captioning and colour-blindness options to ensure that everyone can play the game.

A new mode introduced to the series will see players go head to head in a 1v1v1v1 competitive multiplayer experience. Players will also be allowed to use activity group-based matchmaking and asynchronous matchmaking via Discord.

Gearbox is also building upon its ECHOcast Twitch extension that allows viewers to look through a streamer’s loadout/skilltrees and earn in-game loot. These new features will allow viewers to spawn events into a streamer’s Borderlands 3 game, including Moxxi Mixer events and Badass Viewer events.

Borderlands 3 will release on September 13, 2019 for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
