Avengers: Endgame Directors Working With Netflix for Magic: The Gathering Series
By Joe and Anthony Russo, well known for directing Avengers: Endgame, are teaming up with Netflix for an animated series set in the Magic: The Gathering universe. The Russos will oversee the show, while Star Wars: The Clone Wars’ Henry Gilroy and Agent Carter’s Jose Molina will be the showrunners.
“We have been huge fans and players of Magic: The Gathering for as long as it has been around, so being able to help bring these stories to life through animation is a true passion project for us,” said Joe and Anthony Russo.
Magic: The Gathering has been ramping up its storytelling in recent times, and its latest expansion, War of the Spark, even had a heavy emphasis on story in its marketting. We don’t really know if the Netflix adaptation will take place during a specific expansion block or will have its own original story, but we do know that it will revolve around Planeswalkers, who are magic users capable of hopping between different universes.
