WhatsApp May Finally Let You Use The Same Account From Multiple Devices
Multi-device support on WhatsApp has been a cry from users for years now and it seems like the Facebook-owned messaging giant is finally planning to allow it very soon.
As per our usual source on anything WhatsApp, WABetaInfo in a report now suggests that the beta versions of WhatsApp for iOS now feature an option that asks users for a registration code. Once enabled, this feature could allow you to use WhatsApp on multiple devices using the same account.
If you are part of WhatsApp’s limited team of Beta testers, WABetaInfo notes that the said feature shows up on WhatsApp beta for iOS 2.19.120.20. Traditionally, every time you log in on a new device, WhatsApp asks you for a verification code that you must be entered to retrieve your existing account. In the beta version, the app notifies that a registration code was requested for your account. This is to alert you, in case it wasn’t you who requested for a verification code to be sent to your number. What’s also strange is that a notification pop-up also appeared in this version even though it hasn’t been enabled yet.
For now, you can use WhatsApp on multiple desktops with the same account. This uses WhatsApp for Web but only one mobile device can be used. A stable data or internet connection on the phone is also mandatory. With multi-platform support, multiple devices can be used with the same account, say on iOS and Android.
While multi-device support is being developed, we can also confirm that dark mode (perhaps one of the most requested additions) is very close to release since the only thing left to be perfected with the feature now are tiny refinements, which are being slowly, but steadily being rolled out in the beta versions. However, there’s no official date for the rollout yet.
