Pokemon Masters Professor Oak Fights for the First Time Ever
Legendary Professor Joins the Battle
Pokemon Masters Professor Oak is making his debut — and he’s going to be playable for the very first time in the franchise’s history.
Check out this trailer showcasing the history of the very first Pokemon professor and revealing his entry into battle:
According to a press release from the publisher, Pokemon Masters Professor Oak will be accompanied by Mew. I guess if you’re going to be coming out of retirement to kick some butt, it’s a good enough reason to break out the big guns.
Getting the classic professor will be an easy enough affair; he’ll be awarded to all players who log into the game and complete the tutorial before March 16, 2020, at 1:59 AM. (Just so you don’t get confused: that’s 10:59 PM Pacific Time on March 15, 2020.)
Once Professor Oak is available, players who have progressed past Chapter 2 of the Main Story can upgrade the Professor and Mew by completing “Professor Oak & Mew Special Missions”. These missions will be available right up to the same deadline mentioned in the preceding paragraph. There will also be a “Sync Pair Story” that tells you about how the Professor met and teamed up with this legendary Pokemon.
Pokemon Masters Professor Oak Isn’t the Only New Addition
Professor Oak finally getting his hands dirty is pretty cool, but this isn’t the only new addition to the game: another sync pair has been added to the game.
The Hoenn region’s champion Steven has been added to the game along with his Pokemon Metagross. You’ll be able to get access to him by completing the first chapter of the game’s Main Story before the Professor Oak deadline.
Both of these new sync pairs will only be available for a short time, so don’t sleep on them! You have until March 16, 2020, at 1:59 AM Eastern (that’s March 15, 2020, at 10:59 PM Pacific) to get them before they’re gone for good! You can play Pokemon Masters for free on Android and iOS.
