Jaguar is getting in on the electric vehicle bandwagon as well. It has revealed plans to manufacture a range of new electrified vehicles at its plant in Bromwich, the UK. The company has committed to offering electrified options for all Jaguar and Land Rover models from 2020. It confirmed that one of the first vehicles under this plan will be an electric version of its famous XJ sedan.

The company has confirmed that the first electric car to be produced at the plant is going to be Jaguar’s flagship luxury saloon, the XJ. This model has long been the choice of business leaders, politicians, and royalty.

The news about the production of an electrified XJ was confirmed to workers at the plant as the production of the current XJ came to an end. This new all-electric model is going to be created by the same team of “expert” designers and product development specialists that created the electric Jaguar I-PACE SUV.

That’s not to say that the company won’t offer a conventional engine-powered variant of its new XJ. Jaguar did confirm that it’s retooling this plant to handle the company’s Modular Longitudinal Architecture (MLA) platform which will be used for the production of gasoline and diesel-powered cars in addition to hybrid and electric models.
