Everything Coming to HBO in October
By The wait for Watchmen is over. The series premieres on HBO this month, but there’s plenty else to watch in October, too.
One of the most anticipated shows of the fall is coming to HBO this month, but this isn’t your mother’s Watchmen. It’s not even your Watchmen. As creator Damon Lindelof outlined in an Instagram manifesto, the series is a departure from the comics and the movie; it’s set in an alternate-reality 2019 that lacks the internet but still has white supremacy.

Watchmen – Oct. 20
Who watches the Watchmen? You will probably. There are nine episodes in the first season, one released per week, which seems very appropriately alternate reality in 2019.
Succession: Season Finale – Oct. 13
Everyone is watching Succession. At least that’s how it feels. I personally am not watching Succession, but the pressure to is growing. The season two finale is on Oct. 13, at which point I will either forget about watching the show since people will finally stop talking about it for a bit, or I will take the opportunity to catch up on it. Stay tuned. Or don’t.
Mrs. Fletcher – Oct. 27
Tom Perrotta is the John Updike of this era’s suburbia. His novels Election, The Leftovers, and Little Children have been adapted on screens of all sizes. Now his Mrs. Fletcher, a book about a woman who experiences a social-media-induced sexual reawakening when her son leaves for college, is a series starring the incredible Kathryn Hahn.
