Call of Duty Mobile Massive Success; Over 35 Million Downloads
One of the largest launches ever on mobile.
Call of Duty Mobile has turned out to be a massive success, raking in over 35 million downloads in just three days earning nearly $2 million in revenue. The game, released on October 1st and developed by Tencent and Timi studios, would see massive downloads across both iOS and Android devices, becoming the fastest-selling first-person shooter game on mobile devices in history. Call of Duty Mobile also achieved the #1 ranking in app stores across the globe, according to a recent press release by Tencent and Timi.
“The response from fans across both Android and iOS has been amazing. Already, Call of Duty Mobile has surpassed 35 million downloads on its way to becoming the #1 ranked iOS app in downloads overall, not only among games, but also among all apps, in 100 countries,” stated Rob Kostich, the president of Activision. “This is an incredibly fun experience, and we’re only getting started.”
Call of Duty Mobile is a free-to-play first-person shooter game that combines some of the most iconic maps, characters and competitive modes in the long-running Call of Duty franchise by Activision. Gameplay modes include head-to-head multiplayer matches, a battle royale mode similar to Fortnite and PUBG, and the game includes multiple characters, weapons, and set pieces from the entire franchise.
Call of Duty Mobile is the first mobile version of the franchise, which is worth an estimated $9.7 billion dollars. It is considered one of the most successful video game franchises of all time, and arguably the most successful IP in the realm of pop culture in some circles.
A soft reboot of the franchise Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, is planned for release on October 25th, 2019 for the Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
