Intel Announces Tiger Lake CPUs for Laptops
Intel has revealed its new Tiger Lake processors. Focusing more on mobile computing, the new Tiger Lake CPUs will are primarily meant for thin-and-light laptops. Tiger Lake uses Intel’s new SuperFin process technology, helping the CPU optimise power and performance more efficiently.
“The new 11th Gen Intel Core processors with Iris Xe graphics are delivering incredible performance and responsiveness to enable Windows customers around the world to be more productive and have fun today and in the future,” said Panos Panay, chief product officer at Microsoft.
Among the features of Tiger Lake are more consistent responsiveness on laptop batteries, system wake from sleep in less than a second, nine or more hours of real-world battery life on systems with FullHD displays, and fast charging, with up to a four-hour charge in less than half an hour.
On the performance side of things Intel boasts that Tiger Lake offers 20% faster office productivity versus competitive products, up to 2.7 times faster photo editing and 2 times faster video editing, and hardware support for Dolby Vision.
