Nvidia has announced its acquisition of Arm in a transaction valued at $40 billion. This acquisition will make Nvidia a big player in the mobile SoC market, and will undoubtedly bring a boost to Nvidia’s own Tegra chips. AI is also a big focus for Nvidia with this acquisition.

“AI is the most powerful technology force of our time and has launched a new wave of computing,” said Jensen Huang, founder and CEO of NVIDIA. “In the years ahead, trillions of computers running AI will create a new internet-of-things that is thousands of times larger than today’s internet-of-people. Our combination will create a company fabulously positioned for the age of AI.”

It will be interesting to see how this affects Arm’s current business, as well as Nvidia’s future hardware. Currently, Nvidia makes use of machine learning and AI for its DLSS technology present in RTX cards.
