Gmail For iOS Updated With Customizable Swiping Actions
By Given that our mobile devices are largely touch-based, sometimes being able to interact with them using gestures could be a smarter way than just tapping on our screens. That’s what Google seems to be exploring because in an update made to Gmail on iOS, Google has introduced new customizable swipe gestures.
According to Google, “To help you get things done even more quickly, you can now customize the actions you can take when swiping on an email in Gmail on your iOS device. You can access the swipe configuration settings by going into the Gmail iOS app and navigating to Settings > Swipe actions, and choosing the swipe options that work best for you.”
The swiping will allow users to execute certain actions such as Archive, Trash, Mark as read/unread, Snooze, and Move to. Users can then customize their swipes to any of these actions, meaning that if you’re a lefty or righty, you can choose which direction you want to swipe for certain actions, thus making managing your inbox a lot easier.
These changes should already be rolling out as we speak so if you haven’t updated your Gmail app yet, head on over to the App Store to ensure that you have the latest version on your device.
