  • The OnePlus 7 Pro may come with a QHD+ display and 90Hz refresh rate.
  • The OnePlus 7 Pro is also tipped to house a 4,000mAh battery.

OnePlus 7 is coming and we got our first teaser on Wednesday by the company’s CEO Pete Lau. The teaser didn’t reveal much apart from a promise that the upcoming device will offer a “fast and smooth” experience. We can also see the outline of the frame of the device, making the number “7” which seems to confirm that the next OnePlus phone will indeed be called OnePlus 7. However, there are reports that OnePlus will launch not one but two OnePlus phones this time that will include a OnePlus 7 Pro model as well. This week, some new details about the OnePlus 7 Pro surfaced online.

As the name suggests, the OnePlus 7 Pro is tipped to bring some exclusive features that may not come to the regular OnePlus 7. Tipster Ishan Agarwal revealed a bunch of specs about the OnePlus 7 Pro. The flagship is said to be the first OnePlus phone to sport a Quad HD+ Super AMOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate. While stanard phones come with 60Hz refresh rate, a 90Hz refresh rate would mean smoother interaction with the UI, especially while scrolling and smoother gameplay experience.

The OnePlus 7 Pro is also tipped to house a 4,000mAh battery and support 30W Warp charge fast charging that was first introduced with the OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition. The phone will also feature USB 3.1, stereo speakers and a triple camera setup that will include a telephoto and wide-angle sensor.

Agarwal hasn’t mentioned in the latest leak whether the OnePlus 7 Pro will offer a pop-up selfie camera, but past reports point towards it. A pop-up mechanism would mean the OnePlus 7 Pro will not come with a waterdrop notch. The regular OnePlus 7, however, will likely get the same droplet notch as the OnePlus 6T. Both the OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro are expected to come with a Snapdragon 855 chipset, but it is possible that only the Pro model will support 5G.

This is the first time OnePlus is launching a Pro model along with a regular flagship, so it will be interesting to see just how much of a design and specs gap there will be between the two phones. According to Agarawal, the OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro will launch on May 14 with simultaneous events happening in the UK, New York and Bengaluru. The tipster added that the starting time for the event in India will be 8:30pm.
