During the weekend, Microsoft announced that the price for Xbox Live Gold will increase for all plans. After this announcement, the company received a lot of backlash from players.

As a response to the negative feedback, Microsoft reversed the change in Xbox Live Gold price and announced that free-to-play games will not require Xbox Live Gold membership for multiplayer. In its statement, Microsoft said, “We messed up today and you were right to let us know. Connecting and playing with friends is a vital part of gaming and we failed to meet the expectations of players who count on it every day. As a result, we have decided not to change Xbox Live Gold pricing.”

The company added, “We’re turning this moment into an opportunity to bring Xbox Live more in line with how we see the player at the center of their experience. For free-to-play games, you will no longer need an Xbox Live Gold membership to play those games on Xbox. We are working hard to deliver this change as soon as possible in the coming months.”

The company has also revealed Games with Gold for February 2021, which include:

Resident Evil - February 1 to February 28
Gears 5 - February 1 to February 28
Dandara: Trials of Fear Edition - February 16 to March 15
Indiana Jones and the Emperor's Tomb - February 1 to February 15
Lost Planet 2 - February 16 to February 28
