Surviving Mars Tourism Update Arrives Next Week

‘Abstraction’ Heading Up New Developments

Paradox Interactive has announced the Surviving Mars Tourism Update as part of Abstraction’s new work on the game, and that’s not all — the Surviving Mars In-Dome Buildings Pack is also on the way.

Surviving Mars is a city builder that’s all about establishing a colony on the red planet, but it has some unique elements that make it stand out from similarly-styled games. The most prominent of these elements are “Mysteries;” these special quests will challenge players with a unique experience such as A.I. running wild, an alien invasion, or some other kind of obstacle.

The game has not had much in the way of new content for some time, and now we know the reason why — Abstraction is taking over development. It’s coming out of the gates strong with a new update arriving early next week, too!

The Surviving Mars Tourism Update revamps the game’s tourism mechanic. Tourists can go sightseeing at player-set waypoints in your colony, enjoy rover safaris, and even stay at Martian hotels once you’ve unlocked the technology.

This update will be free for all players, but that’s not all that’s arriving! Abstraction is working on a full-fledged expansion for the game alongside other, smaller pieces of content — and you’ll be able to snap up a new paid DLC pretty soon, too.

Also Announced: The Surviving Mars In-Dome Buildings Pack

Aside from the free Surviving Mars Tourism Update, Paradox has also revealed the Surviving Mars In-Dome Buildings Pack. This paid DLC was created in partnership with Silva, a community modder with a fair amount of experience crafting content for the game.

When is the Surviving Mars Tourism Update Release Date?

The Surviving Mars Tourism Update will launch on Monday, March 18, 2021, and it will be a free update for all players. As for the paid DLC, the Surviving Mars In-Dome Buildings Pack will also launch on the same day.
